Start helping children today by volunteering in Provo and the Utah Valley.
1. Children’s Justice Center
Dear Prospective Volunteer,
Come and be a part of our awesome mentoring program! The Children’s Justice Center’s Victim Assistance Training starts this Saturday, September 20, 2008. This opportunity not only provides you with service
hours for class, but also puts you in a position where you can make a huge difference in the life of a child – while having fun! After the initial 30 hours of training and a background check, you establish the day and time each week that you visit with the child. That makes this a completely flexible volunteer opportunity.
We have many Utah County children on our waiting list, who are waiting for someone great like yourself to bring a smile to their face.
Don’t miss out – call or email Pattie today to get your name on our attendance list for fall training. You won’t regret it!
The training dates and times are as follows:
Saturday, September 20th : 8am-5pm (lunch provided)
Wednesday, September 24th : 5-9pm
Tuesday, September 30th : 5-9pm
Thursday, October 2nd : 5-7pm
Saturday, October 4th : 8am-5pm (lunch provided)
All training sessions take place in Provo.
I look forward to the opportunity to meet you soon!

2. T.O.P.S. (Tutor Outreach in Provo Schools)
Many participants of the program have found it to be both a fun and immensely rewarding experience. Information about TOPS can be found at our website: yserve.byu.edu click on “Serve Now” to get a menu and select “Tutor Outreach to Provo Schools”.
The various schools in Provo will have their volunteer needs posted, for example: “3rd grade reading 08:00 – 08:45 Mondays”. A volunteer would look for a day and time which fits their schedule and an activity which meets their interest and sign up for it online. The third week is orientation week. We have scheduled orientations in 140 JSB at 3:00 PM 16 Sep, 09:00 AM 17 Sep and 7:00 PM 18 Sep. Service at the schools begin from 22 Sep, the fourth week of the semester and continues for 11 weeks ending the week before reading days and final exams. The schools and the children count on the volunteers to come at the selected day and time for the full 11 weeks during the semester.
We have found that this program blesses both the children who are helped and the volunteers who provide the needed assistance.

3. Kids on the Move
We have opportunities for students to work with children on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday evenings and some Saturdays. We provide fun activities for the children while parents are attending classes. We are an Early Intervention and Early Head Start Program. We service approximately 1400 families a year. The children we service are from 0 to 3 years of age. We are located in Orem, right behind the Orem Community Hospital. We have had students from BYU and UVSC over the past several years come and volunteer. Students do not need any training. We have supervisors who direct the volunteers each evening. Students can come once or as many times as they would like. I have left fliers in the BYU Service and Learning Center in the past and have had a great response. If you would like to come for a tour or just let students know about the opportunities here at Kids On The Move that would be great. I send out an email at the end of each month letting volunteers know of the schedule for the following month. Please have volunteers call me at 221-9930 or email me at Kleedom@kotm.org if they would like to come. I need to know ahead of time how many volunteers to count on for each night. Thanks again for your interest in volunteering at Kids On The Move.
